Fia is the only fairy without wings. Shunned by her sisters because of her difference, she amuses herself by befriending the frogs, crows, and rats and creating alternative modes of transport. When she meets a kind young stranger who invites her to the annual May Dance, she has no idea he is a prince. Fia overcomes her fears and attends the dance with the help of her friends. At first the Prince’s parents’ object to her being there, until she saves them all from the hands of a troll.
