TCAN Annual Benefit 2024 continues a tradition of support for the positive impact the arts have on our community. Proceeds from the Annual Benefit support TCAN’s nonprofit mission to present artistic programming and community outreach initiatives throughout the year. Through subsidized tickets to world-class performances, scholarship opportunities, hosting of local nonprofit events and more, TCAN is dedicated to providing affordable and accessible arts programming that everyone can enjoy. As we celebrate our 27th year as a community-based arts organization, TCAN Benefit 2024 features a performance by 10,000 Maniacs.
About 10,000 Maniacs
An alternative rock band and most famous musical progeny of Jamestown, New York, the city that launched their career as a band back in 1981, the band features founding members, drummer Jerome Augustyniak, keyboardist Dennis Drew, and bassist Steven Gustafson, along with more recent additions, guitarist John Lombardo, and lead vocalist Mary Ramsey, who’s been performing with the band for over 30 years. As Ira Robbins of Rolling Stone summed, the band’s “plain-spoken music is an elegant rock descendant of American and British folk traditions.” Unafraid to explore complex, some say darker subject matter, their song “These Are Days” from the 1992 album Our Time in Eden reached number one on the US Billboard charts in November 1992. Their haunting cover version of “Because The Night,” penned by Patti Smith and Bruce Springsteen, reached #11 on the charts in the US, far more successful than Patti Smith’s original.
