The TCAN Players host open auditions for “The Revolutionists,” a play by Lauren Gunderson.
Logline: Four beautiful, badass women lose their heads in this irreverent, girl-powered comedy set during the French Revolution’s Reign of Terror. Playwright Olympe de Gouges, assassin Charlotte Corday, former queen (and fan of ribbons) Marie Antoinette, and Haitian rebel Marianne Angelle hang out, murder Marat, and try to beat back the extremist insanity in 1793 Paris.

The Revolutionists is, at its heart, a story about how words and women can change the world. It dramatizes activism, feminism, and legacies; it’s funny, pointed, sometimes very disconcerting, and quite meta, with the ultimate meta-theatrical, thought-provoking ending. With plenty of historical details that get connected to our modern world, the play reminds the audience that this is just as much about now as it is about then.
The play rehearses Sunday, Monday and Thursday evenings from 7-10pm on Washington Avenue in Natick, MA.
Performances scheduled November 1-3 and 7-10 at TCAN at 8:00pm (Sundays at 2:00pm).
