The Community Foundation for MetroWest, a community foundation dedicated to improving the quality of life in over 30 MetroWest communities, awarded a $7,500 Arts and Culture Grant to The Center for Arts in Natick.
Founded in 1995, the Community Foundation for MetroWest provides financial and educational resources to local nonprofit organizations throughout the MetroWest region. In this 2023 Arts and Culture Grant cycle, TCAN was one of 18 arts and culture organizations receiving a total of $125,000 in financial support from the Foundation, to further their collective efforts on arts education, live performance, exhibit and gallery programming, historical preservation, and cultural community building.
“The Foundation for MetroWest has been a steadfast partner of TCAN since our founding in 1997 and has generously provided support to expand our capacity, strengthen the technical skills of our staff and increase the quality of our programming,” said David Lavalley, Executive Director of TCAN. “The staff and trustees of the Foundation have a deep appreciation for our arts-based mission and have been instrumental in our growth as an organization. We are truly grateful for their continued support.”
The funding provided to TCAN will provide underwriting support for outreach and community programs, including TCAN’s Family Series, MetroWest Student Film Festival, the Smile in Every Seat initiative for deserving members of our community, and TCAN’s participation in the Mass Cultural Council’s Card to Culture program.

Now celebrating its 25th anniversary, TCAN provides a cultural center to the MetroWest Boston region, where national and emerging artists present concert performances, movie screenings, and art exhibitions in an environment that brings together individuals and families, children and seniors. Arts education programs are held for students of all ages.

Since 1995, the Foundation for Metrowest has distributed over $28 million to deserving nonprofit organizations within the MetroWest region. These grants have helped address community needs in Human Services, Hunger Relief, Environment, Public Health, Youth Development, and Emergency Relief. By sponsoring professional development programs and training, the Foundation has also worked to strengthen the nonprofit organizations responsible for delivering important services to their individual communities, and to the region at large.
